Miracles in the Desert
Imagine struggling to crawl through a scorched desert, exhausted and desperately thirsty.
But just ahead looms the towering wall of an immense dam! Behind it are millions of gallons of pure water in a sparkling lake, surrounded by beautiful trees and grass.
The seemingly insurmountable problem is how to climb out of the desert up to this oasis!
Life is like that for many spiritually thirsty souls today. People wander around lost -- burdened by problems with their marriages, children, finances or jobs -- and suffering with arthritis, cancer, disease or depression.
They are crying out, "If only we could get out of the desert to reach that wonderful, life-giving water!"
Now, God lives in heaven, where there are no crutches, allergies or diseases ... no sorrow, misery, violence or war.
Knowing we are incapable of reaching Him on our own, God made a path -- in the person of His Son!
"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me," said Jesus. "If you had known Who I am, then you would have known Who My Father is. From now on you know Him and have seen Him!" (John 14:6b-7).
Jesus was saying, if you want to see God, look at Me! And He promises, "Anyone who believes in Me already has eternal life. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness" (John 6:47b, 10:10b).
Jesus Christ transports us into God's abundant realm -- not just when we go to heaven, but right now.
As we turn to God in faith, He pours life-giving water into our parched hearts ... and miracles happen!
Our eyes are opened to the reality of His kingdom. We exit the wilderness of suffering and lack, entering a dimension of salvation, provision, healing and joy. Streams of living water flow out from us to bring hope to hurting people.
All Scripture is quoted from The Book except as noted.
