David Brody: The President says these (Islamic terrorists) are just a few lone rangers out there, that this is not what Islam teaches. Do you thing he is discounting this a little bit too much?
Gov. Jindal: I think two things. I think it is odd. If you listen to the State of the Union, the president, I wish he had spent more time talking about the threat radical Islam poses to our country, to our way of life, to those in the West that value our freedom. For some reason he doesn’t like to use the word “Islam” and when we are talking about radical Islam, he doesn’t like to use the word “ terrorist” or “terrorism.”
It is not just rhetoric. When you look at their policies, it’s almost like they want to treat this as a criminal action. That is not what this is.
Secondly, here is my challenge to Muslim leaders, because Islam has a problem. Now I hope and believe that the vast majority of Muslims don’t agree with the actions taken by these radical, terrorist, murdering thugs. But here is what Muslim leaders need to do. It’s not enough to condemn acts of violence. They’ve got to condemn the individuals.
They need to clearly say these are not martyrs. They are not going to enjoy a reward in the afterlife. We shouldn’t be glorifying them.
Instead, they should be saying very clearly these fools are going straight to hell.
