The Return of Tiger Woods: Is It Too Soon?
By Shawn Brown
Pro Golfer Tiger Woods recently announced that he’ll play in the Masters Tournament this April. To some, it’s a bit surprising, because his personal life is somewhat in disarray after he was caught in a sex scandal with several women last year. This scenario leaves me with a few questions.
1) Is it too soon for Tiger to come back after less than three months of therapy?
2) Should he spend a little more time at home getting his personal life in order?
3) Should his wife, Elin, take him back after his unfaithfulness?
After grappling with these questions, the concept of forgiveness came to mind. I was reminded of Hosea. You may remember the story: Hosea marries a prostitute who, once they are married, goes right back to her old lovers. Then a compassionate Hosea goes out to find her to bring her back home and forgives her. What an example! With that in mind, is Tiger’s case any different? Any takers?
