Father Richard John Neuhaus
The Reverend Richard John Neuhaus, one of Christianity's leading intellectuals, died Thursday at at the age of 72.
A one-time minister in the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church, Neuhaus converted to Catholicism in 1990 and later became an ordained priest. He was founder and editor of the monthly journal First Things, and author of several books including The Naked Public Square and Religion and Democracy in America.
Neuhaus was also an informal adviser to President George W. Bush, who praised him for helping shape his stance against abortion.
Ken Myers, founding editor and host of Mars Hill Audio worked for Neuhaus at First Things and knew him well.I spoke to Ken by phone to get his thoughts on Neuhaus' impact on modern Christianity.
