“I am a single mother of four. My children depend on me!”
Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Maria struggled to find enough work to put food on the table for her children.
“Because of the epidemic, all work stopped,” she told CBN. “No one will hire me as a housekeeper because they are afraid I will infect them if I go into their houses.”
With no work Maria was growing desperate.
“There was a day when I was down to my last cup of beans. I was afraid to use up the last of our food. My children went to bed hungry, only with a sip of water in their stomachs.”
With nowhere to turn, Maria said she prayed.
“The next morning, I got up at 4 AM and prayed to the Lord. That morning a neighbor came and gave us a little food to eat that day.
When Operation Blessing came to Maria’s community, we brought hundreds of bags filled with food and other groceries and gave some to Maria and to other families suffering from the economic impact of the COVID pandemic. Maria’s children raced to meet her as we helped her carry the bags of groceries to her home near the distribution site. Now Maria and her children have food for a month. And Operation Blessing will continue to help Maria and others until their economies reopen.
“I thank the people who support Operation Blessing for providing this food for us!” she said. “You thought of us when we needed it the most! May God bless you!”
